Dr. Avelino P. Aventura was a revered figure in Philippine medicine, widely recognized as the "Father of Cardiovascular Surgery" for his pioneering work in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. A National Scientist of the Philippines and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, he founded the Philippine Heart Center and was instrumental in establishing the Lung Center of the Philippines, where he served as its first Executive Director.
